Put A Beanie On It

On a spontaneous trip to Disneyland, Cruella Deville bullied me in front of my friends for wearing a red beret adorned with tiny yellow flowers.  Yes, I was a victim of bullying at Disneyland.  Happiest place on earth, my ass.  However, that bitch didn't stop me.  I'm still hopelessly addicted to hats of all shapes and sizes.  It's the easiest way to accessorize.

A few days ago, I bought a cuffed maroon beanie from American Apparel.  [Thank you, Riley.]  I know that I'm behind the trend but I don't care.  It's my favorite new accessory.  Don't get me wrong, I'm still obsessed with my floppy hat [and company].  I'm just saying that I want to wear this beanie in ever color, every day.  I would [and will] sleep in this beanie.  THE BEST PART IS THAT IT'S UNISEX.  So many options!  Men and women, come together.  Call me a hipster if you wish.  That word doesn't offend me.  Or rather than call me the H-word, why don't you do your noggin a favor and put a beanie on it?

La Groupie

When it comes to accessories, hats trump jewelry every time.  Shine bright like a diamond?  Naw.  I'd rather get funky like a hat.  This new felt hat that I purchased today from American Apparel is my new obsession.  Don't get me wrong...I really dig my new haircut but I do not want to take this hat off.  In about a half hour, if you see a girl running the treadmill with a black floppy hat on...guess what?  It's me.

You've heard it before and I'll say it again.  I, Elin Van Atta, have a love affair with The xx.  Therefore, when I saw them perform in San Diego last fall, I had to have one of their band tank tops.  It may not be the most fabulous article of clothing in my closet but it is definitely one of my favorites.  I paired it with my AA high-waisted denim shorts and, of course, my new floppy black hat.

Fiction, when we're not together
Mistaken for a vision, something of my own creation

I wake up alone, with only daylight between us

Last night the world was beneath us, tonight comes, dear love
Were we torn apart by the break of day?
You're more than I can believe, whatever come my way

Fiction, when we're not together

Mistaken for a vision, something of my own creation

Come real love, why do I refuse you?
Cause if my fear's right, I risk to lose you
And if I just might wake up alone
Bring on the night

Fiction, when we're not together

Mistaken for a vision, something of my own creation

Any certainties, how am I to tell?
I know your face all too well, still I wake up alone

Fiction, when we're not together
