Thank you, Lena Dunham

I need to talk about something SO important that is coming back into our lives tomorrow.  That's right.  I need to talk about Girls.  You know, the hipster Sex & the City.  For those of you who have been living under a rock and don't know what this show is about, let me break it down.

Girls is an Emmy-winning comedy [written & directed by Lena Dunham] about 4 twenty-somethings experiencing life, love, and really awkward sex in New York City.  "Oh, Elin, please.  I've already seen a show JUST like that.  It's called 2 Broke Girls.  Duh."  No.  As a 24 year old, I can confidently say that Girls is the only show on television right now that accurately portrays the painful yet comedic experience of growing up in today's world.  It's real.  "Elin, it's a TV show.  It's not real life."  To that I say, "Girl, please."

Check out these quotes from the show and tell me you can't relate.  Come on, I dare you.

"Do you know how crazy the economy is right now? I mean, all of my friends get help from their parents."

"When I broke up with my girlfriend from college, I was so sad, I lost 30 lbs, I couldn't move or talk or get my d**k hard, but it also made me go hey who am I and what do I want?"

"Last time I got drunk I ate all this brie and threw up on my cell phone."

"All I ever wanted for you was to find satisfaction outside of our relationship."

"I have been dating someone who treats my heart like it's monkey meat. I feel like a delusional, invisible person half the time so I need to learn what it's like to be treated well before it's too late for me."

"I have no boyfriend, no job...I have no idea what I want.  Sometimes I just wish someone would tell me, 'This is the way the rest of your life should look.'"

So, dear reader, will YOU be watching Girls on HBO tomorrow night?

xox,

E

P.S.  I'm a Hannah with sporadic Jessa episodes.
