Behind the Star

For anyone who has ever wondered what my tattoo means to me, please direct your eyes to the quote on your left.  Considering that my blog is titled, 'Girl with the Star Tattoo', I feel like I should spill the deets.  Perhaps I told you that I was born with this star on my lower hip.  Well, dear friend, I lied.  It's a tattoo.  I mean, people aren't born with stars on their bods.  Get it together, ya weirdo.

When I was 21 years old, two of my best girlfriends accompanied me to White Lotus Tattoo in Orange County.  I was in a dark place at the time and desperately wanted to express myself...permanently.  I secretly browsed tattoos online for about a week until I decided on the star.

Putting it simply, a star is a light in the darkness.  Just as there would be no good without evil, there would be no light without the dark.  In fact, sometimes the darkness can be a blessing in disguise because it causes us to find strength within ourselves.  Obstacles help us learn to persevere.  In my opinion, the star is a symbol of hope.

Life happens.  Stormy clouds appear.  However, no matter how dark things get, my light within will guide me.  Sometimes I just need to remind myself to turn it on.  Today I am 24 years old and I still love my little tattoo.  It's a small, personal reminder to always stay hopeful no matter what.  Other days, my tattoo just reminds me to stay fabulous.
