Sofia Coppola, hands down, is my favorite director to date. The 42-year-old babe wrote and directed Lost in Translation so I'm basically positive that she's a creative genius. Gawd, that movie is beautiful. I must have seen it about 40 times. Coppola is also known for directing Somewhere, The Virgin Suicides, and Marie Antoinette. On June 14th, her "most provocative film yet", entitled The Bling Ring, will be released. The film, starring Emma Watson, is based on a true story about six fame-obsessed teenagers who robbed celebrities homes. Set in Los Angeles, The Bling Ring appears to be more Girls Gone Wild than her other, more dramatic films. The soundtrack alone [see below] gives that away. Nonetheless, Sofia is brilliant. Therefore, I know she'll end up turning this juvenile-à-la-trashy story into a chillingly beautiful work of art. That's what she does.
