Thursday Tracks // Vol. 5: The Workout Edition

I once dated a guy who had run a marathon.  I found that attractive, of course.  Then he looked me in the eyes and told me that he ran the entire 26 miles without music.  I think that's when I knew we would never work out.  Clearly this man was out of his mind and insanity is a deal breaker.

Music is everything.  Music is necessary.  Have you ever tried dancing to the sound of silence?  [And I don't mean the song.]  No, of course not.  I mean, why would anyone want to do that?  In my opinion, the same concept applies to running.

Selecting the right songs for a sweat session is crucial.  First, there's the warm-up song.  This one is especially important, as it sets the tone for your entire run.  Start off your workout with Sigur Ros and you're screwed.  Each song after that needs to be high-energy, ghettolicious, and loud.  Embrace rap on your run.  Get inappropriate   No one else can hear what you're listening to.  It's just you and Snoop.
